Duranta, commonly known as the Brazilian sky flower, is an upright shrub with drooping branches that is slightly spiky. The flowers are borne in elongated clusters at the tops of the branches and in the higher leaf stalks and are blue or pale purple (sometimes white). In Queensland and northern New South Wales, it is considered an environmental weed. It can be kept as low hedges in formal gardens or as filler plants in huge landscapes.
